Stella Vlad was born at 24 weeks, making 2.5 year old Jake a big brother earlier than expected. Carla and Jason had to work out a plan for being near Stella in London’s Children’s Hospital and keeping their family life running and active for Jake. Ronald McDonald House Charities Southwestern Ontario provided a place for the family to stay that was restful, safe, and FUN! Jake was occupied by the toy room, outdoor playground, and movie nights; Carla and Jason had a clean, safe place to eat and relax that was right next to the hospital.
Carla believes, “Stella did as well as she did because I was able to be there with her every day and to advocate for her care.” Carla made it through as well as she did because Ronald McDonald House cared for the needs of her whole bustling family.
Our three programs, RMH London, RMH Windsor and the RM Family Room London were able to provide supportive services to 2,789 families with sick kids.
