Farmers feed cities, Colton's eggs keep families close!

RMH kids: Then and now

You would never know today Colton was born prematurely, at 27 weeks, causing his family to call RMH London "home-away-from-home" for 114 days. Fast forward 8 years later and we have a fun-loving kid hanging out in the RMH London courtyard, with his favorite hockey stick, showing off his moves from the Wallaceburg Lakers team he plays on back home.

It was always a comfort for us to have a smile and a warm welcome from the volunteers and employees at the House when we would come back from the hospital. The biggest benefit from having a home-away-from-home was knowing that once we would come back from the hospital we wouldn’t need to worry about what to eat since there was always a hot meal ready for us.

Colton knows all about his parents staying at Ronald McDonald House (RMH) when he was a baby, but today he has a more grown-up perspective - he is 8 after all! According to Colton,  it’s pretty cool that if he was ever sick today RMH would still be there to keep his parents close. He thinks RMH is so important that he even held a fundraiser to make sure other kids, just like him, have their families close when they need them most. As a young farmer in his local community, he decided to sell eggs from his 12 backyard chickens to raise money for the House.  When we asked him about how it felt to raise $200 he was very modest about the hard work he put into this egg-citing fundraiser!
