The following policy discloses the privacy practices for Ronald McDonald House Charities® Southwestern Ontario.

We are responsible for your personal information we collect or use.  Our Privacy Officer is responsible for implementing policies and procedures to protect personal information.

Personal information gathered by our organization is kept in confidence.  Our staff and volunteers are authorized to access personal information based only on their need to deal with the information for the reason(s) for which it was obtained.  We have developed safeguards to ensure that the information is not disclosed or shared more widely than is necessary to achieve the purpose for which it was gathered.

We collect, use and disclose personal information only for purposes that a reasonable person would consider appropriate in light of the circumstances.  We routinely offer individuals we deal with the opportunity to opt not to have their information shared for purposes beyond those for which it was explicitly collected.

Families and visitors:

We collect personal information regarding families and visitors to one of the core programs of the Ronald McDonald House Southwestern Ontario for the following purposes:

  • To determine a family member’s needs and eligibility to stay at one of our two Ronald McDonald Houses (London or Windsor) or the Ronald McDonald Family Room in Children’s Hospital
  • To meet the needs of a family during a stay;
  • To provide follow-up support, as required;
  • To arrange for and receive any payments;
  • To allow effective administration of the Ronald McDonald House Charities Southwestern Ontario and its policies;
  • From time to time, to provide information regarding Ronald McDonald House Charities Southwestern Ontario, including information regarding upcoming events, meetings, campaigns or initiatives;
  • To respond to a request made by a lawful authority for purposes otherwise required by law

Financial Donors, Members, Event Participants, Sponsors:

We collect personal information regarding our donors, members, participants in and sponsors of Ronald McDonald House Charities Southwestern Ontario events for the following purposes:

  • To process and record donations for accounting and tax purposes;
  • To issue charitable tax receipts, if appropriate;
  • To thank contributors for their financial support;
  • To recognize donors or sponsors publicly for their donations, unless they advise us not to;
  • To organize and administer Ronald McDonald House Charities Southwestern Ontario events and other fundraising initiatives;
  • To establish and maintain our donor and mailing lists;
  • To contact prize winners;
  • From time to time, to provide information regarding Ronald McDonald House Charities Southwestern Ontario, including information regarding upcoming events, meetings, campaigns or initiatives;
  • To respond to a request made by a lawful authority for purposes otherwise required by law.

Personal Information Agreement

We collect, use or disclose your personal information with your permission.  Your permission may be expressed to us in writing or be implied. You may also give us your permission verbally or electronically.

Unless you advise us otherwise, by receiving or reading this Privacy Policy, you are deemed to have given us your consent to the collection, use and disclosure of your personal information for the purposes set out in this Privacy Policy. If you do not wish us to collect, use or disclose your personal information in the manner set out in this Policy, please contact our Privacy Officer, at 519-685-3232  ext. 2502.

You may withdraw your permission to collect, use and disclose your personal information at any time, subject to legal and contractual restrictions and reasonable notice.
