July was a month of celebration for the Seabrook family.
Not only did they celebrate Zack’s third birthday, his mom, Sophie, says their family received news that he is now cancer free.
“It was a huge relief for us knowing that he wasn’t sick anymore. We still have a long journey ahead of us, but we will certainly take this big win. It was a perfect birthday present for Zack!”
Celebrating so far away from their family in Sault Ste. Marie wasn’t ideal, but they made the most of it by incorporating Zack’s favourite animated characters into every detail of the party – Bluey and her sister, Bingo. Zack’s older brother, Theo, helped decorate the multipurpose room with Bluey-themed activities with mom and their dad, Kyle. They baked mini cupcakes with Bluey toppers, filled the room with an array of colourful Bluey birthday balloons and of course, Bluey music from the hilarious and beloved children’s show.
“What I found the most touching was the outpour of fellow RMH residents and especially the staff who all made a point to wish Zack a happy birthday and celebrate with us.”
It wasn’t just the residents and the staff who helped celebrate the Birthday Boy. Good friends from the Sault happily made the seven-hour drive to the London House.
“They’ve now become family. It meant the absolute world to us that they would travel from the Sault to London to come celebrate Zack’s special day. This friendship blossomed at RMH, and it was so nice to get together again, for a happy event!”
Zack will still require chemotherapy and treatment until 2027. For now, the Seabrook family is focused on taking little trips when they’re able, making memories, and living life day by day.
“Zack is winning the fight.”
